Critical Care Medicine at Children's National
As the annual tournament gears-up, we would like to share important advances and expansions in Critical Care Medicine services at Children’s National.
• Neonatology. Premier teams of neonatal and pediatric specialists provide care to critically
ill and premature newborns—even those weighing less than one pound. Our leading
neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is the primary referral center for more than 40
hospitals. It is ranked among the top ten programs of its kind by U.S. News & World Report.
• Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). Our CICU provides expert subspecialty care to
children who are critically ill with congenital or acquired heart disease. Hospitals from across
the nation and around the world refer patients to this unit based on its prestigious reputation.
• Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The PICU’s multidisciplinary team works sideby-
side with families and providers. Our comprehensive approach to care has helped
Children’s National achieve patient outcomes that are among the best in the nation.
